Sudan - 22 October 2025
In a strategic move to strengthen local food security, Sudan has finalised a contract for the supply of 36,000 kg of wheat seeds under the Sudan - Enhancing Community Resilience Project (P181490). The award, published on October 22, 2025, supports ongoing government and donor-funded efforts to rebuild agricultural capacity amid economic and environmental challenges.
The contract, issued under the Request for Quotations (RFQ) method, has been awarded to Almotashy for Trading and Investment Ltd, located in the New Industrial Area, Gadarif State, Sudan. The winning bid amounted to USD 75,600, which matched both the evaluated and signed contract price - indicating a fully compliant and competitive submission.
The procurement was financed through IDA-E4710, ensuring international oversight and alignment with development objectives.
The supplier will deliver 36,000 kg of high-quality wheat seeds to Al Kamleen, El Gazira State, within an expedited timeframe of 11 days. This rapid delivery schedule underscores the urgency of supporting farmers ahead of the planting season.
Three firms participated in the RFQ:
Awarded Bidder:
Almotashy for Trading and Investment Ltd - USD 75,600
Evaluated but Unsuccessful Bidder:
Wales Investment & Services Ltd - USD 104,040
Rejected Bidder:
KSM for Engineering and Contracting - marked non-responsive
The competitive pricing and technical responsiveness of Almotashy positioned it strongly against higher-priced submissions.
The procurement is expected to directly benefit local farmers, enabling timely cultivation and potentially raising wheat yields in El Gazira - one of Sudanβs most agriculturally vital regions. Improved seed availability strengthens food production, supports rural livelihoods, and contributes to national food security goals.
By prioritising local suppliers, the project also stimulates domestic trade, enhances market participation, and reinforces Sudanβs broader resilience and recovery strategy.
Almotashy for Trading and Investment Ltd is known for its presence in agricultural supply chains and trading operations within Gadarif State, Sudanβs grain hub. Its record in logistics and agri-inputs distribution likely contributed to its favourable evaluation.
This contract award marks a meaningful step in improving agricultural resilience in Sudan. With timely seed distribution and transparent procurement processes, the project is set to support communities in rebuilding stable and sustainable livelihoods.
